About Me
There are so many aspects of biking and I belong to the one which takes me to some of the most beautiful places. Yes I am the tourer kind. I have been touring on my bike from last 5 years and have been to Himalayas (Leh, Ladakh) twice, once with the team (in 2008) and second one solo (in 2010), also I have been to several places in Karnataka. Hoping to continue my touring and probably taking it one step ahead by touring just not in India but all over the world whenever I get a chance. You visit this forum thread to go through one of my most memorable trip to Himalayas: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/tourer/15537-heaven-earth-revisited-solo.html

Do I think I have contributed to the motorcycling community, however a
small way it may be?
I try to contribute to the motorcycling community as much as possible be it online or offline. Through Online medium I try spread awareness and idea of safe/sane riding, wearing protective gears whenever a rider is on the bike by posting my thoughts on the biking forums/threads. Through Offline medium I try to inspire people on the road through riding the bike wearing protective gear all the time (helmet, gloves, jacket). I also visit offline meets happening in the city especially the ones which are organized to support the privileged kids and giving a day of happiness to them which means a lot to me.

How can I contribute more in the future to the motorcycling community?
I would like to attend more offline meets that are organized which promotes safe riding on the roads. Also would like to use online medium to promote the same. One more thing I would like to do which I have already been doing and that is telling people that bike riding is a choice that I have made consciously and not just out of need, that biking is a way of life.

My Touring Experience
Total Kms. Clocked
More than 100,000 kms
Best Ride
The Best ride for me has to be the solo ride to Himalayas in 2010 where I covered 3000kms charting some of the less explored places in Ladakh region. This ride was a revelation to me and introduced me to myself and gave a confidence that I can face anything in life.
One dream ride that I want to do
A trip around Europe
Places I have ridden
Himalayas (Leh, Ladakh, Kashmir), Karnataka
Best touring Bike according to me
If Indian it would a tie between two: Enfield and Karizma. If foreign then it would be hands down: BMW1200GS
Tips to budding tourers
Take calculated risks Don't underestimate the forces of nature and go ignoring them especially in the mountains Ride within your limits, Be safe Be aware of your environment Anticipate probable dangers while on the journey. Enjoy the journey not just the destination. Respect the local people in any place you visit; you are their guest and roaming in area so respect that fact. And lastly be environment friendly.
