About Me
A motorcycling enthusiast and a true mountain lover. The love which began around 7 years ago has now blossomed, to such an extent that frequenting the high roads to ecstasy has become a regular activity for me. A tall and athletic bachelor who never misses any opportunity to ride out, away from the normal and monotonous life, into the wilderness!
Do I think I have contributed to the motorcycling community, however a
small way it may be?
Yes, I have. Assisting people in planning itineraries, providing tips and ideas on motorcycle touring on the mountains, have been some of them.
How can I contribute more in the future to the motorcycling community?
I will continue to provide my assistance and guidance to anyone who has queries on roads, directions, places to stay, best practises to follow and other stuff. I bring I can inspire and lead from the front, and thus, bring about a change in the thought process and outlook of the budding tourer/adventurer. I have done that in the past (started a group, touring club, in office, which spread like wildfire) and shall continue to do that in the future
My Touring Experience
Total Kms. Clocked
80,000 kms in total and around 40-45,000 kms toured.
Best Ride
My best ride, without any doubt, would be the solo ride to Leh in July 2008. Defying expectation, defying bad weather and moreover I proved everyone wrong when I came back in one piece despite the agitations in Jammu-Srinagar in that year. It's a ride that I can never forget and a ride that changed me completely. The route taken was: Chandigarh - Manali - sarchu - Leh - Pangong - Khardungla - Leh - Srinagar - Chandigarh. A total of 2400 kms, in 8 days, which included a 13 hour ride from Leh - Srinagar and a 15 hour ride from Srinagar to Chandigarh, at a stretch.
One dream ride that I want to do
I want to ride from Kathmandu to Lhasa on the friendship highway, riding to the Everest base camp in between. Next, I want to ride across Africa, top to bottom.
Places I have ridden
Ladakh, Every district in Himachal, places in Garwal, a few in Kumaon, across Rajasthan etc
Best touring Bike according to me
My bike, the CBZ Xtreme, because I have toured on that particular bike only. Before that I used to tour on a Splendour and a Bajaj chetak back in the college.
Tips to budding tourers
Touring requires patience, and a high degree of passion to sustain that patience and instill determination. It is the passion that has kept me going and hence this is the advice I can give to you. Be passionate about it, that's how you can continue forever. Secondly, there would be times that unpleasant. You might fall, break a bone or two, but that shouldn't hamper your touring instincts. Here's where your patience and passion would be tested. The 'not-so-passionate' would buy a car and tou
